With an iron, carefully press the seam closed to "meld" the
threads. Then open the seam and gently "finger press." Once the
seam is finger pressed open, carefully press the seam allowances open with
the tip of your iron.
Be careful not to press your silk ribbon embroidery. If you need to,
roll up a hand towel and place the finger-pressed seam allowance face up
over the roll. This will keep the embellishment away from the iron. If you
do happen to mash a portion of the silk ribbon embroidery, it can be fluffed
later by spritzing with water and blowing dry with a hair dryer, or by giving
a shot of steam to the embroidery and then fluffing with your fingers. DO
NOT give a shot of steam to your fingers. This hurts. A lot. Ask me how
I know. :-) |
