As you finish attaching the piping, pull the original 2" tail of
piping at a sharp right angle. As you complete the stitching, hold the end
of the piping that you are now applying toward you and stitch until you
have stitched over the beginning of the piping. Stop with the needle down
in the fabric, and the pull the piping that you are now applying at a sharp
right angle also. Make a few more stitches, take a couple of backstitches,
and then clip your sewing threads. Trim off both tails of the piping even
with the cut edge of the fabric.
Note: If you are using a braid such as the one in the sample, you may
choose to find instructions about how to unravel the ends of the braid,
and weave them back together again with the other end of the braid, tacking
them so that there is no visible "join." This would be done as
you are finishing your stitching instead of using the overlap method used
in this project.
DO NOT clip the seam allowances. You will do this later. |
