2001 Hand Dyed Ribbon Swap

This swap will be a bit different from what the silkribbon list has been doing in the past.
There will be no 'victims'. We will be swapping "squishies" (baggies).

You will mail your squishies to the swap hostess with a SASE and she will
then swap them out and mail them back to you.
(Mailing Instructions will be sent to each participant when they join.)

This swap is open to all members of our list, no matter where you live.

NOTE:
I am asking each participant in the swap to send a digi pic or scan
of the ribbons they are swapping, a copyright waiver
(which I will provide to you via private email),
and information on what dyes were used for your ribbons,
along with techniques, tips, etc., for posting to our Gallery.
If you are unable make a digi pic or scan, I can do it for you.

Following are the swap rules:
Send at least 3 baggies. (You get back as many as you send !)
If you choose to sign up for both widths, you must send at least 3 of each.
Of course you can choose to send more than 3 baggies -
up to the total number of participants.
But 3 baggies is the minimum!

Feel free to change your mind
about the number of squishes you want to swap,
up until the sign up deadline of August 31st.

3.5mm/4mm Ribbon Swap
or
7mm Ribbon Swap

BOTH 3.5mm/4mm and 7mm Ribbon Swap

with your complete name and mailing addy for my records
and how many baggies you are planning on sending if more than the 3 minimum.

DEADLINE to join this swap is Aug 31st.

DEADLINE for the baggies to get to me is September 30, 2001.

If they all arrive before then, I will swap them out earlier.
I will email you the mailing addy for the packets.
Please include your name and email addy on/in each baggie.

This HAND DYED SILK RIBBON SWAP will consist of:

Each baggie will contain 3 one yard lengths
of different coloured hand dyed silk ribbon.

Each of your 3 minimum number of bags may be the same
or they could be different. Its up to you.
Please choose the smallest thinnest baggies you can find.

Mailing Instructions will be sent to each participant when they join.

with your personal information, NOT the list.

SO ... your minimum commitment for joining this swap
is 9 yards of your own hand dyed silk ribbon.
Please no painted ribbons, just silk ribbon you have dyed yourself.
There was an email recently on the difference between paints and dyes.
Basically a paint will sit on the surface of the fabric
but a dye will actually bond with the fibre.
All dyes used for this swap, must be permanent and washable.

UPDATE:

I've had a query on this, so to clarify :

Whatever you use to dye or paint,
the silk ribbons must not change the feel or hand of the ribbon.
The ribbon must retain it's natural inherent qualities
of being soft, supple, fluid and easy to stitch.

It must also be permanent and washable.

I'm looking forward to this being a GREAT swap!

with the variety of new ribbons.
